Valentine’s Day Celebrations are not just about gifts and parties!

by Staff Reporter February 14, 2023

Valentine’s Day celebrations can be overwhelming for many. However, what needs to be remembered is that it is about love and not what money can buy.

Valentine’s Day Celebrations are not just about gifts and parties!
Valentine’s Day celebrations are more about two people in love above everything else (Featured Couple: Kameel & Henna Shaikh

Every year, millions of lovers around the world celebrate Valentine’s Day in their own ways, mostly by buying Valentine’s gifts and throwing off lavish parties for their Valentines. It is such a wonderful sight to see people immersed in a common emotion called love and doing everything in their power to make it a special day for their Valentines. The best part is that it is celebrated for all whom you love – lovers, families, friends and even strangers!

Valentine’s Day celebrations are not about splurging money

People splurge a lot on celebrating Valentine’s Day in ways far beyond the capacity of many. They spend money like anything on making this day special for their loved ones and they have the right to do. But, does that mean that Valentine’s Day is merely for those with fat wallets and heavy purses? Can’t those who are equally in love celebrate this day in some special way that doesn’t require a lot of money? Well, the fact is that Valentine’s Day has got nothing to do with gifts and parties but rather about the love that we have for a special one or many.

Valentine’s Day is a day of expression of our love and not that of a display of the materials we possess or can buy.

Valentine’s Day is about the celebration of love alone

Why do we say that? Well, if you look into the life of St. Valentine, the person who gave us Valentine’s Day, you will be surprised to learn that it all began with nothing more than love, a letter and the urge to join lovers in holy matrimony. There can be many versions of the story of St. Valentine but they all agree on one thing – love is more valuable than all the riches of the world and that love is most pure when it is humble.

A simple person with nothing more than just a simple and genuine confession of true love is worth cherishing a lifetime. True love for all, just like Valentine, can look beyond all obstacles and work miracles for many to see and replicate.

In more simple words, Valentine’s Day is all about the celebration of love and not the love for celebration.

All the money in the world cannot buy love, right?

So, go on, celebrate the one you love or who loves you in simple ways every single day to celebrate the essence of Valentine’s Day!

Day 1 of Valentine Week – Rose Day February 7, 2023, Tuesday

Days of Valentine Week: Valentine’s Week Days’ List and Celebration Ideas

The first day of the Valentine Week is celebrated as a Rose Day and we all know what that means and has to be like. You need to pick up a red rose or a bunch of them for your loved one. And yes, the colour should be red! Why red? Well, a red rose symbolize the love between two individuals of the opposite sex who intend to spend their lives together. So, if you have one such person in your life and want to make him or her feel the love, then a red rose would serve the purpose. One thing to be remembered though, that there is no need to splurge your money on bouquets or spread a mattress of roses. A single red rose, with a pure intention will pass on the message to your Valentine. So now you know what to do with a rose in the first day of Valentine Week!

Day 2 of Valentine Week – Propose Day, February 8, 2023, Wednesday

Days of Valentine Week: Valentine’s Week Days’ List and Celebration Ideas

Well, what special occasion than Valentine’s Day to express your love and propose to your crush when the world is doing the same. While it may not ensure the acceptance of your proposal, it would at least give you the opportunity to express your sincere feelings and who knows, cupid might strike in your favour. You can propose in some romantic and innovative manner while keeping the occasion about him or her and not for the world to see. A marriage proposal could also be the thing to do. So, start reciting your proposals now!

Day 3 of Valentine Week – Chocolate Day, February 9, 2023, Thursday

Days of Valentine Week: Valentine’s Week Days’ List and Celebration Ideas

We all know that girls are mad about chocolates (and so are boys) and there is nothing sweeter than a sweet bunch of chocolates showered upon your girlfriend or wife for that matter. It can also be the other way around you see. The chocolates would fill your relationship with sweetness enough to last for a lifetime (or at least till the next Valentine’s Week). But again, one single chocolate given out of love would do more than a cart full of them.

Day 4 of Valentine Week – Teddy Day, February 10, 2023, Friday

Days of Valentine Week: Valentine’s Week Days’ List and Celebration Ideas

Another cute way to pamper your loved one during Valentine’s Week – gift a teddy or better, become a teddy (try it if you can, could do wonders). Will it work? Well, girls have a soft corner for soft toys and soft boys (meaning boys who behave softly and cuddly and also protective like teddy bears). Give her a teddy that she can hold on to till the day you become available as her permanent teddy!

Day 5 of Valentine Week – Promise Day, February 11, 2023, Saturday

Days of Valentine Week: Valentine’s Week Days’ List and Celebration Ideas

Valentine’s Day or love in general is made up of sweet promises of the present and the future. You can assure your partner with truthful promises of the love you have for him or her. You can promise everlasting love and care. You can also make your partner promise something that you wish for. Chances are, your partner would make a never ending promise in the spirit of the celebration.

Day 6 of Valentine Week – Hug Day, February 12, 2023, Sunday

Days of Valentine Week: Valentine’s Week Days’ List and Celebration Ideas

A true lover’s hug has the power to ease all pain and suffering and though lovers hug every once in a while, they don’t do it as often it should be done. Well, you can start a new phase by hugging your partner on this day and start a chain of warm and comforting hugs in the days that follow. And it is not just for lovers but friends and families too. Everybody needs one!

Day 7 of Valentine Week – Kiss Day, February 13, 2023, Monday

Days of Valentine Week: Valentine’s Week Days’ List and Celebration Ideas

We have all read poems describing the bliss of a first kiss of a lover but for a true lover, every kiss is as blissful as the first one because true love only grows better and better every day. A kiss binds the soul into an unbreakable bond of love, oneness and the longing to be together always. Kiss your partner as if it was your first kiss for the first time and make the feeling last for a lifetime.

Day 8 of Valentine Week – Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2023, Tuesday

Days of Valentine Week Valentine’s Week Days’ List and Celebration Ideas

Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love and caring. A special day for lover’s or Valentines as they say. It is a day when you get the opportunity to celebrate your love for your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend and family. And what can be more exciting than the fact that you are joined by millions partaking in the celebration?

While everybody has plans to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a special way and have a list of things to do like a list of Valentine’s Day Ideas, special and custom made Valentine’s Day Gifts, Valentine’s Day Treats, Valentine’s Day Outfits, Valentine’s Day Quotes and Messages, Valentine’s Day Outfits, Valentine’s Day Food and much more, the fact remains that it is more about the way you love and not the kind of celebration you have.

Valentine’s Day is a day to express your truthfulness and sincerity in the love that you have, your gratefulness for the love that you get and the acknowledgement of your gratitude towards those who fill your life with love and happiness.

If you have it for real then show it earnestly. You can be a millionaire and fail to impress your loved one while a truthful penniless person would succeed in the attempt. It is the feeling that matters and not the kind of celebration. So, you could be buying expensive gifts and all that money could buy but still fail to get the attention of the one you love.

Keep the celebration of Valentine’s Day truthful, simple and personal. Make it  a personal affair to let your loved one/s feel that there is a small world knitted around just you and them and that nobody and nothing can come through.

To be frank, Valentine’s Day is not for lovers but LOVE!

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) to get dedicated police station

by Staff Reporter February 12, 2023
written by Staff Reporter

Proposal has already been sent to the state government

The Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate is pushing hard to get an independent police station purely dedicated to the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), given the size and scope of the project and the number of people it will attract when it comes operational.

Very recently the Commissionerate sent a detailed proposal to the state government requesting them to approve the setting up of police stations at the NMIA, Ulwe and Airoli divisions.

As per available information, the proposed police stations at NMIA, Ulwe and Airoli  will come under Zone 2 of the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.

The ever-expanding city of Navi Mumbai, the influx of people settling in and the number of big-ticket projects like the NMIA itself, the Nhava Sheva- Sewri Sealink, Logistics Hub, JNPT Port, Dronagiri and Naina have led to the decision of setting up additional number of police stations in Navi Mumbai.

The NMIA will see a huge number of people once it becomes operational and will be nothing less than a small town in itself with its own set of issues. A dedicated police station for the airport will no doubt be a wise decision.

Navi Mumbai to get three more police stations soon

by Staff Reporter February 12, 2023
written by Staff Reporter

The three police stations have been proposed for the NMIA area, Ulwe and Airoli nodes

Taking into consideration the ever-expanding city of Navi Mumbai, and the influx of people settling down, the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate has proposed a ‘Circle-3’ that will include the Nerul, CBD, NRI, Ulwe, Kharghar, Kamothe, Kalamboli and Taloja police stations.

The Commissionerate has also proposed an independent ‘airport police station’ purely dedicated to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). Similarly, one station each has been proposed for the Airoli and Ulwe divisions.

Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner, Milind Bharambe informed that a proposal outlining the need, feasibility and other important factors had already been sent to the state government for approval.

For those who are unaware, the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, heads two zones – Zone 1, which includes 10 police stations between Digha to CBD-Belapur, and Zone 2, which includes 10 police stations between Kharghar-Panvel and Uran. The proposed police stations at NMIA, Ulwe and Airoli., once sanctioned, will be included under Zone 2.

Also, plans are afoot to include two upcoming localities under CIDCO’s jurisdiction, Rasayani and Khalapur, in the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.

NMMC’s ‘Waste to Best’ competition is underway

by Staff Reporter February 11, 2023
written by Staff Reporter

Students from all civic schools in Navi Mumbai are competing

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) kicked off their ‘Waste to Best’ interschool competition on 9 February 2023, to help engage young students in the city (in all civic schools) and encourage them to come up with their own ways for putting waste to the best use possible. The competition will cover students from class 1 to 9 under the primary, upper primary and secondary sections, and conclude before the last week of February 2023.

NMMC’s Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Solid Waste Management, Babasaheb Rajale, shared the civic body’s vision regarding the entire ‘Waste to Best’ campaign in Navi Mumbai.

“We are determined to spread awareness about the ‘three R’s’ of waste management – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, through regular competitions in all NMMC schools in Navi Mumbai. We believe that through a constant engaging activity it is very much possible to mould young minds into adopting a way of life that can go a long way into benefitting the environment and the society on a whole.”

“Our objective is to enable these young minds to come up with creative ways of putting waste to the best creative use possible.”

“In the near future, such a habit will help us, as a city, to minimise the quantity of waste dumped without thought every other day. On a broader level it will help us drive our ‘Swachhata’ campaign further.”

The NMMC is hopeful that many students would come up with innovative ideas to recycle solid waste available around them and that the number of students would grow with every such competition.

Highlights of NMMC’s ‘Waste to Best’ competition

  • The theme is based on the three 3‘R’s  – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
  • The competition will cover all NMMC schools in Navi Mumbai
  • Top entries from three sections of each school to be selected

Some Kharghar families did opt for Eco-friendly Ganesh idols

Though few in numbers, some families had brought home dainty eco-friendly Ganesh idols this Ganeshotsav.

Some Kharghar families did opt for Eco-friendly Ganesh idols

Kharghar / Panvel / Navi Mumbai: This Ganeshotsav, a keen sense of responsibility could be seen around in some of the families in Navi Mumbai. In Kharghar, for instance, some families had decided to bring home eco-friendly Ganesh idols, maintaining a good balance between celebration and environmental responsibility.

On Sunday, 4th September 2022, during the 5th day Ganpati visarjan, small yet beautiful eco-friendly Ganesh idols could also be seen lined up at local immersion ponds in Kharghar, waiting for their turns to be immersed.

Of the many families we met at the Ganesh Ghat (pond) in Kutukbandhan, Kharghar, the Prasad family, a small family of three – father, mother and young son, left an impression upon us, with their simplicity and their humble eco-friendly Ganesh idol. They were there for the 5-day immersion.

“We have been celebrating Ganeshotsav for some years now, and have always chosen eco-friendly Ganesh idols over PoP Ganesh idols. We have always felt that it is our responsibility not to harm the environment through any form of celebration. Four us, as a family, not buying PoP Ganesh idols is a simple way of playing our part in saving the environment,” the Prasad’s said with a sense of pride.

For those who are unaware, Ganesh Deshmukh, commissioner, Panvel Municipal Corporation (PCMC), had gone out of the way this year to promote the use of eco-friendly Ganesh idols during Ganeshotsav in Kharghar and entire Panvel region.

Deshmukh had even spearheaded an eco-friendly home and sarvajanik (public) Ganesh Mandal decoration competition 2022 under the campaigns – Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 3.0 and Swachh Survekshan.

The competition was well received as many families and mandals had registered as participants. An examination board had been doing the rounds of all registered homes and mandals since the first day of Ganeshotsav.

Besides the PCMC, many socially aware residents and organisations in Kharghar have also been urging families and mandals to opt for eco-friendly Ganesh idols.

As a result of which, there has been a heightened sense of responsibility among people who are taking it as a personal responsibility to keep the environment safe this Ganeshotsav.

The PCMC said that they will be relentless in their endeavour to spread awareness about the conservation of the environment and safeguarding it in every possible manner.

Navi Mumbai Ganesh Pandals ready to welcome Lord Ganesha

by Staff Reporter August 30, 2022
written by Staff Reporter

City mandals have set up attractive pandals this year to welcome Lord Ganesh after a long two-year hiatus

Devotees of Ganesha in Navi Mumbai are all set to celebrate Ganeshotsav in all its grandeur this year, after patiently waiting for over two years, owing to the pandemic.

Ganesh mandals in Navi Mumbai have readied some very attractive and unique Ganesh pandals at every nook and corner of the city, just like the old days, much to the delight of city residents.

Now that the state government has finally lifted all covid-19 restrictions that were imposed for more than two years, residents are looking forward to celebrating Ganeshotsav with their families and friends, in a grand manner.

Shubham Vishwakarma, a Kharghar resident, shares joyfully, “We have been waiting to celebrate Ganeshotsav since two years and finally he is here. The city and its people are waiting eagerly to welcome Bappa into our city and homes. We are very ecstatic!”

Navi Mumbai residents are feeling nostalgic as their beloved deity, Ganesha, will be with them for the next couple of days, bringing in joy and prosperity.

Navi Mumbai’s popular Ganesh mandals across nodes like Airoli, Vashi, Turbhe, Nerul, Kharghar and Panvel are putting in everything to make this Ganeshotsav a celebration of triumph of the people over the pandemic. We wouldn’t be surprised to see some themes based on it.

In the panvel region, the Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) had also waived all all permission and registration charges levied on Ganesh mandals in Navi Mumbai, doubling the joy of the organisers.

The PCMC had also set up an exclusive website ( http://smartpmc.in/Login ) for the purpose of registering of Ganesh pandals in the panvel region, further simplifying the process.

LocalPress.in wishes all Navi Mumbai residents, a very Joyful Ganeshotsav in advance and wishes that Ganesha brings you joy and prosperity!
