Rain hits Swiggy & Zomato services in Kharghar

Only a few restaurants were accepting orders on both the food ordering Apps, and that too at heavy extra delivery charges, due to incessant rain in Kharghar.

Kharghar / Panvel / Navi Mumbai: Food delivery services in Kharghar were hit badly today due to rain falling continuously since morning. Hungry residents strugggled to order through both, Swiggy and Zomato apps, especially from the second half of the day.

Shubham V., a Kharghar resident, shared, “I tried ordering burgers from Swiggy but none of the restaurants were accepting orders at all. At that time, around 4 pm, they were only accepting orders for Domino;s Pizzas and maybe some other outlet. So, I tried ordering on Zomato, and it was the same.”

Almost all the restaurants in Kharghar were rejecting orders through Swigy and Zomato and there was an extra charge for delivery in the rain by those who did accept order.

Swiggy was charging an extra Rs. 17 delivery charge, while Zomato was hardly taking any orders at all. Some restaurants with their own deliver agents were even charging up to Rs. 25 extar for order below Rs. 125.

Apparently, both the apps were carrying out deliveries in the other nodes of Navi Mumbai. We could not confirm it from all the nodes though.

All we know is that residents of Kharghar and Taloja were sitting with their eyes glued to both these apps, waiting for them to start delivering.

P.S. At the time of posting this article, Swiggy had begun accepting orders for a handlful of restaurants, while Zomato had put up opening soon timers for some of the partner restaurants, with a majority of them still not accepting orders.
