The much-awaited ISKCON Temple in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 January 2025, marking a historic spiritual event. The week-long celebrations, running from 9 to 15 January 2025, will feature a series of cultural and spiritual performances by renowned figures, culminating in the Maha Lokarpan of the temple and the unveiling of the Glory of Maharashtra Cultural Centre and Vedic Museum. This event is also timed to coincide with the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti on 15 January, making the occasion even more special for devotees.
A monumental inauguration: A spiritual hub for all
Blending traditional Vedic architecture with modern design elements, the ISKCON Temple will provide a divine experience for visitors. The temple complex will feature several notable facilities, including the Bhaktivedanta College of Vedic Education, the Bhaktivedanta Ayurvedic Healing Centre, a Gaushala, an Ashram for Senior Citizens, a Vedic Museum, and an Organic Farm, making it a comprehensive centre for spiritual growth, wellness, and cultural exchange.
As HG Suradas, Temple President and Trustee, stated: “The temple is the glory of Maharashtra, offering diverse facilities that will cater to the spiritual and practical needs of the community.”
Inauguration week: A celebration of culture and devotion
The ISKCON Temple inauguration will feature a vibrant schedule of performances, including:
- 9 and 10 January: Dance Performance dedicated to Lord Jagannath
- 11 January: Padma Shri Anup Jalota Ji performing Bhajans
- 12 January: Smt. Geeta Rabarii Ji presenting popular spiritual folk songs
- 13 January: Smt. Hema Malini Ji performing a spiritual dance
- 14 January: Padma Shri Smt. Anuradha Podwal Ji singing Bhajans
The celebrations will culminate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing the Maha Lokarpan of the Shri Shri Radha Madan Mohan Ji Temple on 15 January, marking the official inauguration. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Glory of Maharashtra Cultural Centre and the Vedic Museum, two significant projects envisioned to showcase India’s rich spiritual heritage.

The excitement among local residents of Kharghar is palpable. Shelly Pandya, a local resident, shared her joy: “This temple is more than just a place of worship; it’s a symbol of hope and unity for our community. We are eagerly waiting to experience the divine blessings!”
Shubham Vishwakarma, another Kharghar resident, said: “I’ve been following the progress of the temple for years, and now it’s finally here. Prime Minister Modi’s presence makes it even more special. The celebrations will surely bring joy to everyone.”
