However, it has taken more than just submitting a proposal and convincing the authorities.

“I had proposed the dog park almost four years back and it was officially announced in February 2019. However certain conditions delayed commencement of work for 2 more years. Still, I had been tailing the authorities without thought on the matter and finally work commenced,” Gaikwad shared triumphantly.

Under the directives of Abhijit Bangar, NMMC commissioner, work on the dog park at Vashi commenced much to the joy of all pet parents in the city, especially those in Vashi.

Talking about the facilities in the dog park at Vashi, Gaikwaid informed: “The dog park will be a fenced enclosure, accommodating dogs of all sizes and breeds, and will have equipment for various activities. There will be a provision of small seesaws, steps, and slopes, among other things, for daily exercise and play.”

“We have also proposed for poop bins in the Vashi dog park to facilitate dog parents in collecting and disposing dog poop conveniently,” she added.
