Navi Mumbai: The summers have been made unbearable for many as the city reels under frequent power cuts across several nodes. While power cuts are not unacceptable, the unscheduled cuts have not been well received by citizens.
The most affected areas have been Digha, Airoli, Turbhe, Ghansoli, Koparkhairane and Vashi in the Thane district. These nodes had witnessed power cuts during the nights owing to increase in power consumption. Pre-monsoon maintenance work has also been a reason for the power cuts in some places. For instance, Vashi had a power cut on Tuesday owing to maintenance work on the power lines.
In the Raigad district nodes like Uran, Kamothe and Panvel have been affected. For instance, in Uran, power supply has been made worse owing to other issues like open cables, damaged feeder boxes etc. residents believe that there has been a serious mismatch of demand and supply in the area.
In another incident on Tuesday, a supply line from 400 KV sub-station of Kharghar, supplying power to Kamothe, was down for maintenance from 10 am to 5pm, without any intimation to the residents.

In another incident on Tuesday, a supply line from 400 KV sub-station of Kharghar, supplying power to Kamothe, was down for maintenance from 10 am to 5pm, without any intimation to the residents.
Officials from MSEDCL assured that it was all owing to the pre-monsoon preparation work and even though alternate supply arrangement was being made at certain areas, there had been other issues in the supply system that needed to be worked upon on priority basis.
Further, they informed that all maintenance work was being carried out in a phase-wise manner and hence the inconvenience was limited to the area being worked upon on a given point of time.
