Police arrest two Pune based bookies from Kharghar, for placing bets on IPL match

Navi Mumbai / Kharghar: Two Pune based bookies were arrested in Kharghar by a crime branch central unit team on Sunday. The duo were placing bets on the IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab.

Officials informed that they acted based on a major tip off about such an activity underway at Omkar Empire CHS in sector 10, Kharghar.  When raided, the cops found a notebook used for streaming the match and placing the bets, a television set and five mobile phones.

Apparently, the duo had forged documents to obtain SIM cards and were using a mobile app to facilitate the betting. The policed seized materials worth Rs 75,870.

An FIR has been registered against the duo and the Panvel JMFC court has ordered to keep them under police custody till 10th May.

 a tip off, the crime branch team raided flat number 402 in Omkar Empire CHS in sector 10. The two were caught accepting bets on the match using a software on a laptop and a mobile application ‘Cricket Live’ for live streaming of match.

The cops seized a note book, a TV set, five mobile phones. The total seizure is worth Rs 75,870.
