Mumbai: The Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has demanded asked the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd. (CIDCO) to hand over an encumbrance-free land to commence construction activity on the Navi Mumbai International Airport runway and terminal building. This comes as yet another hurdle since the PAP compensation and agreement issues, having already delayed the construction work.
Apparently, the land measuring 1,156 hectares, handed over by CIDCO contains 94 structures yet to be compensated and removed, besides around 70 government buildings, community temples and some illegal cellphone structures. A drone survey had revealed close to 300 such structures and also high tension lines in the area.

Officials informed that unless the structures were cleared and compensated for and the land rendered encumbrance-free, work couldn’t be commenced. A meeting of CIDCO and MIAL officials is scheduled to take place soon.
