Navi Mumbai / Ulwe: The 10 remaining villages in Ulwe marked for the Navi Mumbai International Airport that still remain occupied have been given an extension till December 15, 2019. Also, the Navi Mumbai International Airport (Pvt) Ltd (NMIAL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV) will have to complete the project by the end of 2021.
The City and Industrial Development Authority Corporation (CIDCO) bears the responsibility of vacating the villages being the nodal airport development authority. The relocation deadline and compensation benefit has been extended till December 15 with the belief that villagers of the remaining 10 core villages will see reason to abide.
Just to recap, the relocation had been delayed owing to discussions over the demands of the villagers.

Apparently, the villagers had met the MD of CIDCO on November 26 and their demands had been met. As per officials, local politicians and representatives of the region have been able to convince the villagers to the 22% compensation scheme and the benefits involved. As decided for now, villagers vacating their houses by December 15 will also be given the enhanced Rs 1,500 per sq ft aid for building new homes and 18-month rental.
Ex-Uran Sena MLA, Manohar Bhoir will be visiting Ulwe to address pending demands and submit a report.
Many assert that the demands were accepted as the new government took charge and priortised to sail off the Rs. 1600 crore Navi Mumbai International Airport.
