Tattooing is more than just an art form for Shubham Vishwakarma—it’s a journey of self-expression and dedication. Originally from Bihar and now based in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, Shubham turned his passion for art into a thriving career. With no formal training, he taught himself the craft by watching YouTube videos, driven by a love for creativity and a desire to learn something new. Today, he runs his own tattoo studio, ‘Dioninks,’ and continues to inspire others with his work. In this short interview, Shubham shares the story behind his art and the inspiration that keeps him going.
How did you become a tattoo artist?
I dropped out of school and trained myself by watching videos on YouTube. My journey into tattooing started from a pure passion for art and a strong desire to learn something new.
What inspired you to take up this skill?
My inspiration comes from my devotion to Lord Krishna. I spend time daily at the ISKCON temple in Kharghar, and it fills me with positive energy and creative inspiration.
What motivates you to keep going?
My devotion to Krishna and the many good people I meet every day keep me motivated. Their support and encouragement drive me to improve and expand my skills.
What are your future business plans?
I plan to expand my tattoo business, ‘Dioninks,’ and continue growing as an artist. I aim to reach a wider audience and create meaningful art that resonates with people.
What advice do you have for others, especially those facing educational challenges?
I would advise completing formal education if possible. However, if that’s not feasible, don’t feel incomplete. A lot can be achieved with the will to learn a skill, being consistent, and maintaining a positive approach.
How has your devotion influenced your life and work?
My daily visits to the ISKCON temple keep me grounded and inspired. This devotion shapes my outlook on life and gives me the strength to face challenges head-on.
What are some of the best aspects of your work?
I love creating unique and personalised tattoos for my clients. The joy and satisfaction they express after seeing the final artwork is incredibly rewarding.
