An Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft is set to take off from the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) this Friday as part of an important runway test ahead of the airport’s anticipated opening in March 2025, Cidco chairman Sanjay Shirsat informed.
The trial run is scheduled for Friday between 3 PM and 4 PM, with CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis attending the event. Originally planned for the 5th of October, the test was postponed.
Developed by Adani Airports, NMIL will serve up to 90 million passengers annually once fully operational. Domestic flights are expected to begin by March 2025, followed by international operations in June 2025. The airport will have four terminals, two parallel runways, and parking facilities for 350 aircraft. The Rs 16,700 crore project aims to alleviate congestion at Mumbai’s existing airport.
