Following a huge rise in covid-19 cases in the PCMC area, especially in Kharghar, the corporation has decided to shut the Central Park for as long as needed.
Kharghar / Panvel / Navi Mumbai: The Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has ordered for the shutting down of the Kharghar Central Park, consideration the growing numbers of covid-19 cases in the Panvel region, with Kharghar having a majority of cases.
In a communication dated 20 March, 2021, addressed to the CIDCO, the PCMC informed about the decision, seeking their cooperation in carrying out the order immediately.
Following the communication, CIDCO officials sent an errand to shut down the Kharghar Central Parkimmediately.
Readers should know that since February, 2021, there has been a sharp increase in active coronavirus cases in Navi Mumbai in both the NMMC and PCMC areas. As a result, both corporations have ensure temporary closure of all public places that draw in huge crowds.
In the PCMC area, the Central Park has been a huge crowd puller, and the growing number of cases in and around the area and could be adding to the problem.
As a result, the Commissioner of PCMC, Sudhakar Deshmukh, thought it wise to temporarily shut the Central Park down till the crisis abates.
