Navi Mumbai / Taloja: The City Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) recently received delivery of the final eight 3-coach train sets, manufactured by the Chinese rail coach manufacturer CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. The delivery was first received at Mumbai Port and later transported all the way to the Navi Mumbai Metro Depot at Taloja.
To give readers an overview, CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. Is a Chinese manufacturing company that was handed over the contract to design, manufacture, supply, test and commission 24 standard gauge metro coaches (eight 3-coach train sets) for the Navi Mumbai Metro project. The first two train sets of 3-coaches were delivered by CRRC to CIDCO in the month of March last year.
The size of the three-car train sets is 64.6m long and 3.1m wide, and the passenger capacity is of around 1,100. The metro trains can run on an approximate maximum speed of 80 km/h.
In September, 2019, a trial run on a 2-km long distance was carried out from the Pendhar Metro Terminal Yard to Pendhar Station. The said section is part of the 11-km long Phase 1 of the Navi Mumbai Metro project.
